Our Philosophy

The Guyana America Alliance (GAA) is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) centred around the concept of strengthening ties and establishing a territorial linkage, a bond between Guyana and America pursuing a treaty of mutually beneficial alliance and friendship with USA; of making Guyana an adjunct of America that would that serve each other’s national interests. These benefits would include Providing the Guyanese people unfettered access to travel to USA and enjoy all rights and privileges as Americans (similar to those enjoyed by the people of Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, etc.). A reciprocal relationship that allows Americans to travel to Guyana and enjoy similar rights as Guyanese.
The GAA is not political, religious, or ethnic aligned, and not centred on any political leader or ideological philosophy. Its goal (making Guyana a territorial alliance with USA) is its philosophy. Its driving force is achieving its goal by pursuing legitimate actions under the laws of both countries, using peaceful debates and discussions to advance the goal.
GAA believes that, despite its shortcomings, democracy is the best system of governance for Guyana with capitalism a cornerstone of economic progress and development of the country, and economic liberalism is best for Guyana’s economy and its people.

Background
America is the wealthiest, economically stable with the largest GDP and militarily most powerful nation, a multi-ethnic democracy with an established constitution, unique educational and judicial system, and opportunities for advancement. America provides for hundreds of groups from around the world, including a million Guyanese or people of Guyanese ancestry, unmatched rights and freedom and living in peaceful coexistence. Guyana is a developing country with tremendous natural resources and potential, and is experiencing rapid economic growth over the last decade. Meanwhile, it has provided limited opportunities for its own population for advancement in technology and professional skills, hence the large numbers of Guyanese in America, Canada and other countries. In spite of its recent growth, economic potential, and vast resources, surveys show that the vast majority of Guyanese wishes to migrate to America. USA is a well-established and well organized country, the wealthiest and most powerful in the world, that everyone wants to migrate to and settle for various reasons but primarily because of its guaranteed freedoms and for being known as the land of opportunities. Almost every Guyanese would like to visit and or settle permanently and or study and or work in America and or become a citizen of USA. Hundreds of thousands of Guyanese have settled in USA over the last six decades with descendants now of fourth generation living a life of comfort that was not easily possible in Guyana, and they have become ‘Americanized’ experiencing the great American dream. Guyanese Americans are proud of their newly embraced identity of being Americans but also retain their Guyanese heritage: Indians, Africans, Chinese, Amerindians, Portuguese, etc. In America, they freely engage in their cultural and religious practices and have institutionalized ‘Guyanese’ enclaves or communities that are distinctly ethnic Guyanese with high home ownership rates and incomes. They enjoy one of the highest standards of living among the hundreds of nationalities that have settled in USA. They also freely engage in political and socio-cultural activities with success. They are free to choose, not coerced or forced to engage in activities that support a narrow social or political agenda of an individual or party. Because of the massive migration from other populations from other countries, Guyanese in America are not marginalized as an ethnic group in the USA, while ethnic categorization and marginalization are widely practiced in Guyana. Naturally, Guyanese in the USA would like their brethren in Guyana to enjoy a similar lifestyle and all rights and privileges as they do in America. Thus, they would like their former homeland of Guyana to be in a partnership with the USA. Guyana being part of the USA will guarantee a lifestyle and rights in Guyana similar to those enjoyed in America. Also, Guyanese recognize that being part of the USA will offer protection against existential threats from Venezuela to absorb two thirds of Guyanese territory. American Territorial status will guarantee Guyanese equality and freedom and a minimum relatively high standard of living. It will also protect Guyana against drug traffickers and other dangerous elements including terrorists. America is the wealthiest and most powerful nation, a multi-ethnic democracy with hundreds of groups from around the world, including a million Guyanese or people of Guyanese ancestry, having unlimited rights and freedom and living in peaceful coexistence. Guyana is a developing country with a lot of resources and potential that has been experiencing rapid economic growth over the last decade but with limited opportunities for tone population and under poor governance. In spite of its growth, economic potential, and vast resources, almost every Guyanese wishes to migrate to America as obtained from surveys.
