How this idea of a Guyana tie up with USA has come about

Give Guyanese first Preference!

There was a discussion among a group of Guyanese from the diaspora and Guyana. They concluded that the Guyana government is broken and Guyana is becoming a failed state and that the solution to the country’s endemic problems is Guyana becoming a part of USA.

It is noted that after 59 years of independence since 1966 and a decade of self-rule before that, the country has not seen much progress. The country is as socially and politically divided as it was during colonial rule. Political and social relations have remained stagnant. There is runaway crime and endemic corruption. People cannot speak freely without fear of victimization. Freedom of political association can cost you your job.

End Chinese favoritism and expansionism in Guyana!

Guyana government is broken. The state is under threat from drug traffickers and criminals. Nothing is done efficiently! Most politicians are corrupt, hustling for themselves. Corruption is everywhere. There is a hustle for contract or to engage in fraud to get rich quickly without hard work. Politicians own many companies getting state contracts. There is very little honesty in government. Good governance is not in the vocabulary of politicians. Yet people are beholden to politicians because of racial and party loyalty and not what is in their or the country’s best interests.

The promoters of this idea of a link up with USA, of Guyana becoming a part of America, say Guyanese must step beyond race and party lines if they want to see real progress, development, and a better life and to end racism. The promoters recognize that the population and the electorate are very racially fracture and that half of the population live in poverty.  They feel that Guyanese must embrace USA to live a life as their family and friends in America, as Americans, do.

Enter into a Defense Pact with America!

The people who embrace the idea of USA becoming a part of America didn’t come to this decision lightly. They thought about it hard. They see it as the only way to save Guyana from some very deceptive rapacious politicians of all ethnicities and from the plan of Venezuela to take over Guyanese territory and its many resources. The current American President, Donald Trump, is promoting the idea of an American tie up with several countries. The promoters of the idea have written to President Trump to consider a tie up with Guyana. They have also approached Members of Congress and politicians around the country from all political parties for their views. A meeting is sought with the President. Former Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton are also being approached for their views and support. It is believed that late Presidents like George Washington and other founders of USA and those who were behind the expansion of America beyond the original thirteen colonies would have supported the idea of Guyana becoming a part of America. The late President Jimmy Carter urged Guyanese to look beyond race and party and to develop a constitution that shares power among the races so that no race or party dominates the country for politicians who care only about self.

Our Philosophy

The Guyana America Alliance (GAA) is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) centred around the concept of strengthening ties and establishing a territorial linkage, a bond between Guyana and America pursuing a treaty of mutually beneficial alliance and friendship with USA; of making Guyana an adjunct of America that would serve each other’s national interests. These benefits would include Providing the Guyanese people unfettered access to travel to USA and enjoy all rights and privileges as Americans (similar to those enjoyed by the people of Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, etc.). A reciprocal relationship that allows Americans to travel to Guyana and enjoy similar rights as Guyanese.

The GAA is not political, religious, or ethnic aligned, and not centred on any political leader or ideological philosophy. Its goal (making Guyana a territorial alliance with USA) is its philosophy. Its driving force is achieving its goal by pursuing legitimate actions under the laws of both countries, using peaceful debates and discussions to advance the goal.

GAA believes that, despite its shortcomings, democracy is the best system of governance for Guyana with capitalism a cornerstone of economic progress and development of the country, and economic liberalism is best for Guyana’s economy and its people.

MAKE GUYANA PART of USA – What You Must Know! Why it Matters

Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards

America made it possible in 1992 for democracy to be restored in Guyana after 28 years of one-party authoritarian rule with the first fair and free elections. The USA again protected democracy against rigging in 2020.

American investments have made Guyana an economic powerhouse with investment in oil exploration and extraction over the last seven years. Guyana has been earning revenues of billions of American dollars annually and has become the fastest growing economy all because of USA.

It is, therefore, a no brainer to make Guyana a part of America. If Guyana is part of USA, investors will have to pay an internationally acceptable rate of royalty as well as profit sharing and fair taxes from profits

Our Mission

The mission of GAA is to take measures to achieve the stated purpose including engaging in public relations and awareness programs and activities to further the purpose and objective. The GAA organization will engage in programs to educate Guyanese in Guyana, the USA and the diaspora, as well as the American people about the benefits as well as disadvantages in this venture. These educational and awareness programs shall allow all stakeholders including political parties and the public to make an informed decision about supporting the organization’s goal. GAA shall engage in sustained lobbying to persuade governing administrations and ruling and opposition political representatives of both USA and Guyana to advance the objective. GAA shall pursue various acts within its charter to influence the public and legislators in both countries to make the stated objective a reality. GAA will host a variety of programs and activities including seminars, debates, discussions, public activities, marketing, public forums and town hall type meetings for interaction as well as engagements with legislators in America and Guyana to advance and realize GAA’s objective.

GAA’s public relations activities will inform and educate Guyanese in Guyana about America and benefits of this alliance with AmericaThe people of the United States will be further educated about the enormous contributions Guyanese are making to America and about Guyana’s huge natural resources and location that will be of strategic value and economic interests to the USA. GAA will inform Americans about the Guyanese American community and about Guyana generally as well as about Guyanese in Guyana and the Guyanese diaspora. GAA will promote its agenda and objective using all forms of communications: Radio, TV, and print and social media, webinars, among other means, to advance the stated agenda and objectives.

Guyana and Guyanese at home can’t rescue our country alone. We need the diaspora and America to transform our country, providing good governance and better way of life.

Why a Tie Up Between Guyana & USA

America is the wealthiest, economically stable with the largest GDP and militarily most powerful nation, a multi-ethnic democracy with an established constitution, unique educational and judicial system, and opportunities for advancement. America provides for hundreds of groups from around the world, including a million Guyanese or people of Guyanese ancestry, unmatched rights and freedom and living in peaceful coexistence. Guyana is a developing country with tremendous natural resources and potential, and is experiencing rapid economic growth over the last decade. Meanwhile, it has provided limited opportunities for its own population for advancement in technology and professional skills, hence the large numbers of Guyanese in America, Canada and other countries. In spite of its recent growth, economic potential, and vast resources, surveys show that the vast majority of Guyanese wishes to migrate to America.

USA is a well-established and well organized country, the wealthiest and most powerful in the world, that everyone wants to migrate to and settle for various reasons but primarily because of its guaranteed freedoms and for being known as the land of opportunities. Almost every Guyanese would like to visit and or settle permanently and or study and or work in America and or become a citizen of USA. Hundreds of thousands of Guyanese have settled in USA over the last six decades with descendants now of fourth generation living a life of comfort that was not easily possible in Guyana, and they have become ‘Americanized’ experiencing the great American dream.

Guyanese Americans are proud of their newly embraced identity of being Americans but also retain their Guyanese heritage: Indians, Africans, Chinese, Amerindians, Portuguese, etc. In America, they freely engage in their cultural and religious practices and have institutionalized ‘Guyanese’ enclaves or communities that are distinctly ethnic Guyanese with high home ownership rates and incomes. They enjoy one of the highest standards of living among the hundreds of nationalities that have settled in USA. They also freely engage in political and socio-cultural activities with success. They are free to choose, not coerced or forced to engage in activities that support a narrow social or political agenda of an individual or party. Because of the massive migration from other populations from other countries, Guyanese in America are not marginalized as an ethnic group in the USA, while ethnic categorization and marginalization are widely practiced in Guyana.

Naturally, Guyanese in the USA would like their brethren in Guyana to enjoy a similar lifestyle and all rights and privileges as they do in America. Thus, they would like their former homeland of Guyana to be in a partnership with the USA. Guyana being part of the USA will guarantee a lifestyle and rights in Guyana similar to those enjoyed in America.

Also, Guyanese recognize that being part of the USA will offer protection against existential threats from Venezuela to absorb two thirds of Guyanese territory. American Territorial status will guarantee Guyanese equality and freedom and a minimum relatively high standard of living. It will also protect Guyana against drug traffickers and other dangerous elements including terrorists.

Thank You for your Support of Guyana America Alliance!

Why a Tie Up Between Guyana & USA

America is the wealthiest, economically stable with the largest GDP and militarily most powerful nation, a multi-ethnic democracy with an established constitution, unique educational and judicial system, and opportunities for advancement. America provides for hundreds of groups from around the world, including a million Guyanese or people of Guyanese ancestry, unmatched rights and freedom and living in peaceful coexistence.Guyana is a developing country with tremendous natural resources and potential, and is experiencing rapid economic growth over the last decade. Meanwhile, it has provided limited opportunities for its own population for advancement in technology and professional skills, hence the large numbers of Guyanese in America, Canada and other countries.
